The country from 1861 to 1863 entered into the Civil War. All began with the hostile attitude between the South and the North during the election of 1860. Abraham Lincoln questioned and rejected the expansion of slavery in the territories. The South favoured the slavery system as it was the backbone of their economy. The South being favourable with the climate engaged in plantations where slaves used as labour. Lincoln election worked as the immediate purpose for the disruption between the two sides of the Civil War.

The change in the attitude was on the issue of slavery in the country. The North considered slavery as an evil practice which should be declared illegal in America. The South wanted to continue the practice of slavery.
