Cultural exchange has been happening for almost as long as there are cultures along the world.
Cultures only happen due to amalgamations of different ideas of lifestyle and how people must live their lives.
These ideas are shared between communities in terms of customs that they follow and technologies that they are using, along with their art, craft products and religions.
They are adopted and changed by the people taking up the same from them and so is culture spread.
Bunch of things:
• Europeans brought tons of diseases (smallpox, influenza, etc), which changed the way Natives lived by killing them. Some historians estimate that as much as 80% of North America's Native population died in the 200 years after Columbus.
• Europeans brought new trade goods and resources, like iron and brass and beads. This changed Native economies and modified the ways they conducted warfare.
• Europeans brought horses, which Natives then acquired and quickly mastered. This dramatically changed the balance of power, as tribes who became best at using horses (like the Comanche and Shoshone) rapidly gained power and land at the expense of other tribes.
In 1606, money to establish the colony of Jamestown was raised by forming the Virginia Company.
The poem "Thanatopsis" was written by poet William C. Bryant. Thanatopsis means "consideration of death" in Greek. In the beginning of the poem, "Thanatopsis", nature speaks to the dead. This poem was sent in to publishers by Bryant's father, without his knowledge, while William was still a young man.
