There are several reasons as to why the white American colonists created a slave labor system, some of which are:
- They created enormous plantations of cash crops. This meant that lot of labor was needed and the white colonists were not in high enough number, nor were they willing to engage in such a high intensity labor. The best solution for them were the slaves.
- Initially the white colonists planned on using the Native Americans as labor force. This didn't went as planned as the majority of the Native Americans died out because of diseases they brought from Europe, as well as conflicts and displacements.
- The slaves were relatively cheap and abundant, as well as easy to get. Once they were bought they were the cheapest and most efficient possible work force, as they were not paid, only provided with shelter and food, and the owners had total control over theme, thus often forcing them to work throughout all of the day.

Answer: Settlers and tribes both had effects on each other. On many trails headed west, settlers traveled in fear of attack from tribes who would rob or kill members of caravans. Tribes would attack stagecoaches and wagons that traveled across their lands. On the other hand, settlers constantly encroached on tribes’ lands. When settlers drove cattle, built railroads, established trails, and created new settlements, tribes were driven off of their lands. Often, this happened to tribes that had already relocated from other parts of the country to escape settlement. As the two groups fought over land, tribes struggled to get the resources they needed. While both groups profited from each other, both also were harmed by expansion in different ways.
In U.S there was a lot more land available at the time and many people were looking for a fresh start. Many people were looking to expand trades and business. In the city many places offered unskilled workers opportunities for a steady job.
