Write all functions that are symmetric about the y-axis. Choose from the following six circular functions. yequals=sine xsinx,
horsena [70]

Answer:

Hence the function only :

Secx and Cosx functions are symmetric about y-axis

And remaining functions are not symmetric about y-axis.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Six circular function as :

y= sinx ,y=cosx , y=tanx,  y= cotx ,y=secx  y=cosecx

To Find:

Which functions are symmetric about the y-axis

Solution:

<em>The function is said to be symmetric about the y-axis is given by</em>

<em>f(x)=f(-x)</em>

Now

1)For y=sinx  i.e. f(x)=sinx

So put x=-x

f(-x)=sin(-x)

=-sinx

Hence f(x)≠f(-x)

This function is not symmetric about y-axis

2)For y=cosx ,i.e. f(x)=cosx

put  x=-x

f(-x)=cos(-x)...............(as value for x and -x cos value remain the same )

=cosx

hence f(x)=f(-x)

This function is symmetric to the y-axis

3)For y=tanx     i.e   f(x)=tanx

put  x=-x

f(-x)=tan(-x)

=-tanx

Hence f(x)≠f(-x)

This function is not symmetric about y-axis

4)For y=cotx  i.e.  f(x)=cotx

Using above observation,

f(x)≠f(-x)

This is not symmetric about y-axis

5)For y=secx  i.e f(x)=secx

f(x)=f(-x)

This function is symmetric about y-axis.

6) for y=cosecx

f(x)≠f(-x)

This function is not symmetric about y-axis

See image for question.
Ostrovityanka [42]

Answer:

  • See below

Step-by-step explanation:

#3

  • P(A) = 3/8
  • P(B) = 2/7

(i)

  • P(A and B) = P(A) * P(B) = 3/8*2/7 = 3/28

(ii)

  • P(A or B) = P(A) + P(B) - P(A and B) = 3/8 + 2/7 - 3/28 = 1/56(21 + 16 - 6) = 31/56

(iii)

  • P(not A and not B) = P(not A) * P(not B) = (1 - 3/8)*(1 - 2/7) = 5/8*5/7 = 25/56

<u>Another way:</u>

  • P(not A and not B) = 1 - P(A or B) = 1 - 31/56 = 25/56

#4

Outcomes with two fair coins: TT, TH, HT, HH

Outcomes with normal dice: 1 to 6

a)

  • P(odd number) = 3/6 = 1/2

b)

  • P(two heads and an even number) = 1/4*3/6 = 1/8

c)

  • P(head and tail) = 1/2
  • P(prime) = 3/6 = 1/2 (primes are 2, 3 and 5)
  • P(head, tail and prime) = 1/2*1/2 = 1/4

d)

  • P(two tails and odd number) = 1/4*3/6 = 1/8

If yo travel56mph how far will you go in2hr15min how long does it take to cover 168 miles
Alex73 [517]
2 hr 15 min = 2 \frac{1}{4} hours = 2.25 hours
"how far" means distance ... so distance = rate x time
distance = 56 x 2.25 = 126 miles

"how long" means time ... so using the same formula
168 = 56 x time
divide both sides of the equation by 56 to solve
3 hours = time
