Hamilton proposed to enact his fiscal programs by centralizing economic power in the federal government, as opposed to in the states. He was opposed by the Anti-Federalists but his policies were widely successful and are still in effect today.
This is mainly a personal preference question but I think that the Federal Gov. should be more involved with the states. It really depends on what specific "thing" you are talking about.
Go into details. Look at the different issues with both the Federal and State Governments and then compare and contrast that.
