the slope is :   (YB - YA)/(XB -XA)
(2-5)/-5+4)  = -3/-1 =3
an equation is : y=ax+b     a is a slope

y = 3x +b

 

the line through point  (-4,5) :  5 = (3)(-4)+b
b = 17

the equation is : y =3x+17
