One of the angle of the triangle is 90 degrees which means it is a right angled triangle. Two angles are same i.e 45 degrees which means the angle is an isosceles triangle.

so, x = 17 (isosceles triangle)

then use pythagoreas theorem:

y =  \sqrt{x {}^{2} + 17 {}^{2} }

and x = 17, so simplify and

y =  \sqrt{17 {}^{2}  + 17 {}^{2} }

so

y = 17 \sqrt{2}
