The daily average temperature in Santiago, Chile, varies over time in a periodic way that can be modeled approximately by a trig

onometric function.
Assume the length of the year (which is the period of change) is exactly 365days long. The hottest day of the year, on average, is January 777, when the average temperature is about 29 degrees C.

The average temperature at the coolest day of the year is about 14 degrees C.

Find the formula of the trigonometric function that models the daily average temperature T in Santiago t days into the year. (t = 1 on January 1) Define the function using radians.

What is the average temperature in Santiago on January 31? Round your answer, if necessary, to two decimal places.

Answer:

a) the trigonometric function is;

y = 7.5 sin ( \frac{2 \pi}{365}t + \frac{337 \pi}{730})+ 21.5

b) y = 28.36^0 \ C    ( to two decimal places)

Step-by-step explanation:

This data can be represented by the sinusoidal function of the form :

\mathbf{y = A sin (Bt -C)+D}

where A = amplitude and which can be determined via the formula:

A = \dfrac{largest \ temperature -  lowest \ temperature}{2}

A = \dfrac{29-14}{2}

A = \dfrac{15}{2}

A = 7.5° C

where B = the frequency;

Since the data covers a period of 3 days ; then \dfrac{2 \pi}{B } =365

B = \dfrac{2 \pi}{365}   ( where 365 is the time period )

The vertical shift is found by the equation D;

D =  \frac{largest \ temperature + lowest \ temperature}{2}

D = \frac{29+14}{2}

D = 21.5

Replacing the values of A ; B and D into the above sinusoidal function; we have :

y = 7.5 sin (\frac{2 \pi}{365}t -C) + 21.5

From the question; when it is 7th of the year ( i.e January 7);

t =  7 and the temperature (y) = 29° C

replacing that too into the above equation; we have:

29= 7.5 sin (\frac{2 \pi}{365}*7 -C) + 21.5

29= 7.5 sin (\frac{14 \pi}{365} -C) + 21.5

\frac{29-21.5}{7.5}=  sin (\frac{14 \pi}{365} -C)

1=  sin (\frac{14 \pi}{365} -C)

sin^{-1}(1)=   (\frac{14 \pi}{365} -C)

\frac{\pi}{2}=   (\frac{14 \pi}{365} -C)

C=   (\frac{14 \pi}{365} -\frac{\pi}{2})

C=   (\frac{28 \pi- 365 \pi}{730} )

C=  \frac{-337 \pi}{730}

Thus; the trigonometric function is;

y = 7.5 sin ( \frac{2 \pi}{365}t + \frac{337 \pi}{730})+ 21.5

Similarly; to determine the temperature o Jan 31; i.e when t= 31 ; we have :

y = 7.5 sin ( \frac{2 \pi}{365}*31+ \frac{337 \pi}{730})+ 21.5

y = 7.5 sin ( \frac{62 \pi}{365}+ \frac{337 \pi}{730})+ 21.5

y = 7.5 sin ( \frac{124 \pi+ 337 \pi }{730})+ 21.5

y = 7.5 sin ( \frac{461 \pi }{730})+ 21.5

y = 7.5 *( 0.915)+ 21.5

y = 6.8689+ 21.5

y = 28.36^0 \ C    ( to two decimal places)

Based on this topic sentence, which text structure will be used to write the rest of the paragraph?
USPshnik [31]

Answer:

Look for unstated cause-and-effect relationships

In some paragraphs, the cause-and-effect relationship is not directly stated. In these cases, you will have to “read between the lines” to find the cause-and-effect relationship. Use clues from the paragraph to identify a cause-and-effect relationship.

To find the effect, ask yourself: “What happened?”

To find the cause, ask yourself: “Why did it happen?”

Let’s look at some examples:

The Great Barrier Reef is threatened by global warming; the rising water temperature causes reef bleaching, making the reef less colorful and more prone to disease.

Reef bleaching is the effect; global warming and rising temperatures are the cause.

I tried my hand at all of the ball sports you can imagine, including lacrosse, basketball, soccer, and softball, which is why I found myself on the track during 9th-grade tryouts.

In this example, the cause is implied (being bad at team sports), and the effect, or result, is trying out for track and field.

Step 2: Look for the signal words that show cause-and-effect relationships.

Step 3: Look for effects that are also causes. Effects can form a chain in which one effect goes on to cause a second effect, which may then cause a third effect and so on. Study this example:

When people cut down trees to clear land, they destroy the habitats of birds. This reduces the number of nest sites. As a result, fewer baby birds are hatched, and the bird population declines.

Cause 1: People cut down trees.

Effect 1: The habitats of birds are destroyed.

Effect 2: The number of nest sites is reduced.

Effect 3: Fewer baby birds are hatched.

Effect 4: The bird population declines.

The bases of Triangle A and Triangle B are equal. The ratio of the height of
Lunna [17]

Answer:

A = 120 cm²

Step-by-step explanation:

The 4 part of the ratio relates to the height of triangle A , then

16 ÷ 4 = 4 cm ← value of 1 part of the ratio, then

5 parts = 5 × 4 cm = 20 cm

The area (A) of triangle B is calculated as

A = \frac{1}{2} bh ( b is the base and h the height )

Here b = 12 and h = 20 , then

A = \frac{1}{2} × 12 × 20 = 6 × 20 = 120 cm²
