What is the solution of the following system?
alexandr402 [8]
4x-y = 15 3x+2y = -8 Multiplying the first equation by two makes for an easy elimination of the y variable. 8x - 2y = 30 3x + 2y = -8 Add vertically. 11x = 22. Divide by 11 on both sides and get x = 2. Plug into an equation. 4(2) - y = 15 8 - y = 15 8 = 15 + y 8 - 15 = y -7 = y. Thus the solution is indeed (2, -7).

Hey there I need some assistance need on this problem. What do I mean by checkpoints and how am I supposed to find the y-interce
MakcuM [25]

Slope Formula: y2 - y1 / x2 - x1

(m and slope represent the same quantity)

m = 1 - - 5 / -4 - 0

m = 1 + 5 / -4

m = 6 / -4

m = -3/2

Now that we know the slope, we can plug the slope and one of our points into slope-intercept form (y = mx + b) and solve for b. I will be using the point (-4,1).

y = -3/2x + b

1 = -3/2(-4) + b

1 = 6 + b

b = -5

In point form, the y-intercept is (0, -5).

Therefore, to get the equation all we need to do is plug in our slope and b-value to slope-intercept form.

Equation: y = -3/2 x - 5

To check the point (-6, -14) we plug it into our equation and see if the two sides are equal.

-14 = -3/2(-6) - 5

-14 = 9 - 5

-14 = 4

-14 does not equal 4, therefore the point is NOT on the line.

Hope this helps!

What is the slope of the graph of y = x^2 + 12 -7 at the point x = 4
Doss [256]

Answer:

20

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1: find the derivative of y = x^2 + 12x - 7; it is 2x + 12.

This function represents the slope of the tangent line to the given curve at x.

Step 2: Substitute 4 for x in f '(x) = 2x + 12: f '(4) = 2(4) + 12 = 20

The slope of the tangent line to the graph of y = x^2 + 12x - 7 at x = 4 is 20.
