(a) Depending on the organism, the optimal pH for enolase to catalyze its reaction is between 6.5 and 8.0. Describe how a pH bel
stepan [7]

Answer:

An enzyme can be described as a biological molecule which catalyzes a reaction. Each organism works best at an optimum temperature and pH.

If the pH is too high or too low than the optimum pH, then the enzyme such as enolase will become denatured and it will not be able to catalyze the reaction.

A change in pH causes the enzyme the shape of an enzyme to get changed or it changes the specific charge properties of the substrate of that enzyme. As a result, the substrate is no longer able to fit into the active site of the enzyme. Hence, the enzyme is not able to catalyze the reaction.

The protein portion of an enzyme is known as the:
tatyana61 [14]

Answer:

3. apoenzyme

Explanation:

Apoenzymes -

It is the inactive form of the enzyme , and it binds with the substrate which have affinity like of the holoenzyme , but is does not have the capability to convert the substrate to product .

The binding process may lead to some conformational changes in the apoenzyme , which the method of fluorescence can detect .

hence , the protein portion of the enzyme is the 3. apoenzyme .
