I'll just factor the above equation.

x² + 18x + 80

x² ⇒ x * x
80
can be:
1 x 80
2 x 40
4 x 20
5 x 16
8 x 10  Correct pair

(x+8)(x+10)
x(x+10) +8(x+10) ⇒ x² + 10x + 8x + 80 = x² + 18x + 80

x+8 = 0
x = -8

x+10 = 0
x = -10

x = -8

(-8)² + 18(-8) + 80 = 0
64 - 144 + 80 = 0
144 - 144 = 0
0 = 0

(-10)² + 18(-10) + 80 = 0
100 - 180 + 80 = 0
180 - 180 = 0
0 = 0

I think the algebra tiles will not be a good tool to use to factor the quadratic equation because the equation is not a perfect square quadratic equation.

the correct question in the attached figure

We proceed to analyze each case

case a) n^{2}+ 3n + 40 = (n- 8)(n- 5)

Expand the right side and compare with the left side

so

(n- 8)(n- 5)=n^{2} -5n-8n+40\\ (n- 8)(n- 5)=n^{2} -13n+40

n^{2}+ 3n + 40 is not equal to n^{2} -13n+40

therefore

case a) is not the equation represented by ms. wilson’s model

case b) n^{2} + 13n + 40 = (n + 8)(n + 5)

Expand the right side and compare with the left side

so

(n+ 8)(n+ 5)=n^{2} +5n+8n+40\\ (n+ 8)(n+ 5)=n^{2} +13n+40

n^{2} + 13n + 40 is equal to n^{2} + 13n + 40

therefore

case b) is the equation represented by ms. wilson’s model

case c) n^{2} + 40n + 13 = (n + 8)(n + 5)

Expand the right side and compare with the left side

so

(n+ 8)(n+ 5)=n^{2} +5n+8n+40\\ (n+ 8)(n+ 5)=n^{2} +13n+40

n^{2} + 40n + 13 is not equal to n^{2} + 13n + 40

therefore

case c) is not the equation represented by ms. wilson’s model

case d) n^{2} + 40n + 3 = (n - 8)(n - 5)

Expand the right side and compare with the left side

so

(n- 8)(n- 5)=n^{2} -5n-8n+40\\ (n- 8)(n- 5)=n^{2} -13n+40

n^{2} + 40n + 3 is not equal to n^{2} - 13n + 40

therefore

case d) is not the equation represented by ms. wilson’s model

therefore

the answer is the case b) n^{2} + 13n + 40 = (n + 8)(n + 5)

On a city map, 2 inches represents 10 miles. The library and the bank are 5 inches apart on the map. What is the actual distance
Furkat [3]
Direct proportionality
2 inches/ 10 miles = 5 inches / x miles
cross multiply
2x = 50
divide both sides by 2
x = 25
The actual distance between the library and the bank is 25 miles

Hope this helps :)

Noah wants to create a floor plan that is a scale drawing. The actual length of Wall C is 4 m. To represent Wall C, Noah draws a
FinnZ [79.3K]

Answer:

Scale using for plan ⇒ 1 m = 4 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Actual length of wall = 4 m

Segment of wall = 16 cm long

Find:

Scale using for plan

Computation:

Actual length of wall = Segment of wall

4 m = 16 cm

1 m = 16 / 4 cm

1 m = 4 cm

Scale using for plan ⇒ 1 m = 4 cm

Answer:

option 4

Step-by-step explanation:

(f*g)(x) =(x² + x+ 1)*(x² - x -1)

           = x²*(x² - x -1)   + x(x² - x -1) + 1*( x² - x -1)

            = x²*x² - x²*x -x²*1   + x*x² - x*x -x*1 + x² - x -1

            = x⁴ - x³ - x² +x³ - x²  - x  + x² - x -1

           = x⁴  - x³ + x³  - x² - x² + x² - x - x - 1

       = x⁴ - x² - 2x - 1
