Animals in an experiment are to be kept under a strict diet. Each animal should receive 50 grams of protein and 12 grams of fat.

The laboratory technician is able to purchase two food mixes: Mix A has 10% protein and 8% fat; mix B has 50% protein and 5% fat. How many grams of each mix should be used to obtain the right diet for one animal?

Answer:100 grams of A mixed with 80 grams of B will provide the daily diet for a single animal.

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1

The requirement for each animal is given as 50g of protein  and 12g of fat

let mix A  be represent as   containing  0.10A protein and 0.08A fat

and mix B be represented as containing 0.5B protein and 0.05B  fat

Therefore for Protein , we have   0.10A + 0.5B= 50----- Equation 1

And for fat , we have   0.08A + 0.05B= 12-------Equation 2

Step 2-- Solving

0.10A + 0.5B= 50----- Equation 1

0.08A + 0.05B= 12-------Equation 2

multiplying equation 1 by 10 and equation 2 by 100 we have

1A+ 5B=500-------Equation 3

8A+ 5B= 1200-------Equation 4

Subtracting equation 3 from equation 4

7A= 700

A = 700/7= 100

Puting value of A = 100 IN  EQUATION 3

1(100) + 5B= 500

5B= 500-100

B=400/5= 80

Therefore 100 grams of A mixed with 80 grams of B will provide the daily diet for a single animal.

Select the term that describes the constant portion in this quadratic equation.
Goryan [66]

Answer: 16

Step-by-step explanation:

A quadratic function is a function of the form f(x) = ax2 +bx+c, where a, b, and c are constants and a = 0. The term ax2 is called the quadratic term (hence the name given to the function), the term bx is called the linear term, and the term c is called the constant term.

Therefore, the constant term in the equation is 16.

In a particular class, exams are worth 50% of the overall grade, quizzes are worth 30% of the overall grade, homework is worth 1
UkoKoshka [18]

<u><em>Answer:</em></u>

His overall grade is 81.9%

<u><em>Explanation:</em></u>

The easiest way to solve this question is by using simple cross multiplication.

<u>1- His overall percentage in exams:</u>

We are given that exams are worth 50% of the grade and that he scored an average of 82.2%

Assume that his overall percentage in exams is e

<u>We can setup the ratio and solve for e as follows:</u>

\frac{82.2}{100}=\frac{e}{50} \\ \\e=\frac{50*82.2}{100}=41.1%

2- His overall grade in quizzes:

<u>We are given that quizzes are worth 30% of the grade and that he scored 74.4%</u>

Assume that his overall percentage in quizzes is q

<u>We can setup the ratio and solve for q as follows:</u>

\frac{74.4}{100}=\frac{q}{30} \\ \\q=\frac{30*74.4}{100}=22.32%

<u>3- His overall grade in homework:</u>

We are given that homework is worth 15% of the grade and that he scored an average of 90%

Assume that his overall percentage in exams is h

<u>We can setup the ratio and solve for h as follows:</u>

\frac{90}{100}=\frac{h}{15} \\ \\h=\frac{15*90}{100}=13.5%

<u>4- His overall grade in class participation:</u>

We are given that class participation is worth 5% of the grade and that he scored a 100% in it

Assume that his overall percentage in exams is p

<u>Since he scored 100%, then he scored the complete worth which is 5%</u>

p = 5%

<u>5- His overall grade in the course:</u>

The student's overall grade in the course is the summation of the above calculated percentages

<u>This means that:</u>

Overall grade = e + q + h + p

Overall grade = 41.1 + 22.32 + 13.5 + 5

Overall grade = 81.92% which is 81.9% approximated to one decimal place

Hope this helps :)

Is w^2-9w+81 a trinomial square
Yuri [45]
No because it would be
if you knew that
ax^2+bx+c was a trinomial square, then the factored form would be
( \sqrt{a}x+ \sqrt{c})^{2} or ( \sqrt{a}x- \sqrt{c})^{2}
so
if w^2-9w+81 is perfect square, factored form is either
( \sqrt{1}x+ \sqrt{81})^{2} or ( \sqrt{1}x- \sqrt{81})^{2}  aka ( x+9)^{2} or  ( x-9)^{2}
expand them
(x+9)^2=x^2+18x+81, wron middle term

(x-9)^2=x^2-18x+81 wrong

so it is not
