The formula s = StartRoot StartFraction S A Over 6 EndFraction EndRoot gives the length of the side, s, of a cube with a surface
never [62]

Answer:

2\sqrt{2}\ ft\ longer

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Area Of A Cube </u>

Suppose a cube with side length s, the area of one side is

A_s=s^2

Since the cube has 6 sides, the total area is

A=6A_s=6s^2

But if we have the area, we can solve the above formula for s to get

A=6s^2

\displaystyle s=\sqrt{\frac{A}{6}}

We have two different cubes with areas 1,200 square inches and  768 square inches. Let's compute their side lengths

\displaystyle s_1=\sqrt{\frac{1,200}{6}}=\sqrt{200}

\displaystyle s_1=10\sqrt{2}\ ft

\displaystyle s_2=\sqrt{\frac{768}{6}}=\sqrt{128}

\displaystyle s_2=8\sqrt{2} ft

The difference between them is

10\sqrt{2}\ ft-8\sqrt{2}\ ft=2\sqrt{2}\ ft\approx 2.83\ ft

The side of the cube with area 1,200 square inches is 2\sqrt{2}\ ft longer then the side of the cube with area 768 square inches

How much work is done lifting a 5 kg ball from a height of 2 m to a height of 6 m? (Use 10 m/s for the acceleration
Sedbober [7]
<h2>Explanation:</h2>

In physics, work is defined force that causes displacement. So this can be expressed by the following equation:

W=Fs

Where:

F:Force \\ \\ s:Displacement

The force can be found as:

F=ma \\ \\ F=5(10)=50N

And for the displacement:

s=6-2=4m

The force (weight) is down and the displacement is up, then the work must be negative. So:

W=-(50)(4) \\ \\ \boxed{W=-200J}

its question #2 my son and I cannot figure out how to do this other than dividing. however, when u divide 59 into 422, are you s
anyanavicka [17]
Honestly I can see an argument for 7 shelves or for 8 shelves.

When you do the calculation; \frac{422}{59}=7.15 You get 7.15 shelves. Clearly you cannot have .15 of a shelf so the logician in me wants to say you need 8 shelves!

But if the assignment is aimed estimation skills, (Which is what I assume is being implied by the title of the assignment), then the easier calculation of \frac{420}{60}=7 is probably what the teacher was hoping for.

You might have been accidentally been calculating \frac{59}{422} =.139. Remember division is NOT communitive! i.e.1\div2\neq2\div1.

From the image;
The first step was to see that 59 can not go into 4..resulting in the zero above the 4, multiplying 0 by 59 and subtracting 0 from 4.

The second step begins by bringing down the 2, seeing that 59 can not go into 42..resulting in the zero above the 2, multiplying 0 by 59 and subtracting 0 from 42.

The third step begins by bringing down the 2, seeing that 59 can go into 422 7 times (I tested this on the right by a short multiplication problem)..resulting in the 7 above the 2, multiplying 7 by 59 and subtracting 413 from 42.

This process continues....
