Answer:

A) Dimensions;

Length = 20 m and width = 10 m

B) A_max = 200 m²

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x and y represent width and length respectively.

He has 40 metres to use and he wants to enclose 3 sides.

Thus;

2x + y = 40 - - - - (eq 1)

Area of a rectangle = length x width

Thus;

A = xy - - - (eq 2)

From equation 1;

Y = 40 - 2x

Plugging this for y in eq 2;

A = x(40 - 2x)

A = 40x - 2x²

The parabola opens downwards and so the x-value of the maximum point is;

x = -b/2a

Thus;

x = -40/2(-2)

x = 10 m

Put 10 for x in eq 1 to get;

2(10) + y = 40

20 + y = 40

y = 40 - 20

y = 20m

Thus, maximum area is;

A_max = 10 × 20

A_max = 200 m²

If b=4 and c=2, what is 2b-3c?
Paraphin [41]
First, fill in the variables with the numbers given so that
2b-3c
will then become
2(4)-3(2)
next, you refer to the order of operations to simplify the problem down, the multiplication being the first doable operations in this problem.
8-6
and next operation being subtraction.

Suppose the true proportion of high school juniors who skateboard is 0.18. If many random samples of 250 high school juniors are
madreJ [45]

Answer:

0.024

Step-by-step explanation:

Central Limit Theorem

The Central Limit Theorem establishes that, for a normally distributed random variable X, with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, the sampling distribution of the sample means with size n can be approximated to a normal distribution with mean \mu and standard deviation s = \frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}.

For a skewed variable, the Central Limit Theorem can also be applied, as long as n is at least 30.

For a proportion p in a sample of size n, the sampling distribution of the sample proportion will be approximately normal with mean \mu = p and standard deviation s = \sqrt{\frac{p(1-p)}{n}}

Suppose the true proportion of high school juniors who skateboard is 0.18.

This means that p = 0.18

Samples of 250 high school juniors are taken

This means that n = 250

By how much would their sample proportions typically vary from the true proportion?

This is the standard error, so:

s = \sqrt{\frac{p(1-p)}{n}}

s = \sqrt{\frac{0.18*0.82}{250}}

s = 0.024

So 0.024 is the answer.
