When you lose a war, unfortunately punishment in some form or another comes along with it. Germany wouldn’t have gone easy on Britain and France either had it won WW1, you can tell that based on how harsh the Treaty of Brest Litovsk was when Germany negotiated Russia’s exit from the war.
