A possible consequence of habitat destruction is less biodiversity. The variety of life forms that reside in a habitat are highly dependent upon that particular environment. Often, when a habitat is destroyed the life within is destroyed as well, or at the vary least has difficulty finding a new habitat and may have to adapt themselves in ways that make them similar to the life that already exists in the new habitat, leading to less biodiversity.
