The nurse is reinforcing instructions to a client following mastectomy who will be discharged with an axillary drain in place. T
Natali [406]

Answer: I should continue the exercise of upper arm as soon as I reach home.

Mastectomy is the removal of breast due to cancer or for the prevention of cancer. After this surgery there is a placement of plastic tube in order to collect the fluid so as to prevent infections. In this case just after the surgery the person should be engaged in exercises.

The person should not take part in any of the upper body movement as exercises, lifting heavy weights and any other activity which stresses the upper arm.

As long as the person is continuing the dressing she should not engage himself in any exercise.

Adrenaline stimulates glycogen breakdown in skeletal muscle cells by ultimately activating glycogen phosphorylase, the enzyme th
r-ruslan [8.4K]

Answer:

d) A constitutively active mutant form of PKA in skeletal muscle cells would lead to an excess in the amount of glycogen available.

Explanation:

This occurs in the process of Glycogenolysis. The process involves breaking down of glycogen to glucose -1- phosphate and glycogen which helps in the release of glucose into the blood stream to prevent hypoglycemia(low blood sugar). The glucose-1-phosphate is later converted to glucose -6-phosphate. The latter enters the glycolytic pathway in which the reaction is catalysed by the enzyme phosphoglucomutase.

This homeostatic glucose regulation is regulated by the protein kinase(PKA)/ cAMP pathway in the skeletal muscles, the liver and the pancreas.

A population of mussels was observed in a particular ecosystem. Crabs have recently been observed occupying this ecosystem, whic
Zina [86]

Mussels are molluscans and are freshwater animals. The change in the environment led to new traits of mussels, it underwent natural selection and the thick shells have high chances of survival.

What is natural selection?

Natural selection is a process of nature that eliminates the organism with less survival and unfit traits while selecting the organisms with better traits of survival in the altered conditions.

The arrival or the introduction of the crabs in the environment altered the previous habitat of the mussels and led to the adaptation of the better trait quality in the mussel species.

The trait of the thick shells underwent natural selection as they were favoured for the changed conditions. The mussel having thick shells have high chances of survival over thin-shelled mussels as the crab will find it hard to attack the thick-shelled mussels.

Therefore, option A. change in environment, option B. natural selection and option E. chances of survival are the correct statements.
