Answer:

The value of x is 26.

Step-by-step explanation:

In a triangle, the total angles is 180°. In order to find the value of x, you have to add up all the angles in terms of x and make it equals to 180°

2x + 3x + 50 = 180

5x + 50 = 180

5x = 180 - 50

5x = 130

x = 130 ÷ 5

x = 26

As we know that,

Sum of all angles of triangle = 180°

Given,

Angles are 2x , 3x and 50°

Now,

\rightarrow \: 2x + 3x + 50 = 180

When plus sign goes to another side then,it become minus.

\rightarrow \: 5x = 180 - 50

\rightarrow \: 5x = 130

\rightarrow \: x =  \cancel \dfrac{130}{5}

\rightarrow \: x = 26

Hence,the value of x is 26°.

A college entrance exam company determined that a score of 2222 on the mathematics portion of the exam suggests that a student i
kolbaska11 [484]

Answer:

Yes, Students are scoring above 2222 on the math portion of the exam.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that a college entrance exam company determined that a score of 2222 on the mathematics portion of the exam suggests that a student is ready for college-level mathematics i.e., population mean is 22.

Null Hypothesis, H_0 : \mu = 22 {Students are scoring equal to 2222 on the math portion of the exam}

Alternate Hypothesis, H_0 : \mu > 22 {Students are scoring above 2222 on the math portion of the exam}

Also, a random sample of 150 students who completed this core set of courses results in a mean math score of 22.7 on the college entrance exam with a standard deviation of 3.93 i.e.;

Sample mean, Xbar = 22.7    and Sample standard deviation, s = 3.93

The Test statistics is given by;

                            Z = \frac{Xbar -\mu}{\frac{s}{\sqrt{n} } } ~ t_n_-_1

Test Statistics = \frac{22.7 -22}{\frac{3.93}{\sqrt{150} } } ~ t_1_4_9

                        = 2.1815

Since, we are not given with the significance level, so we assume it to be 5%. At 5% significance level t table gives critical value of 1.6578 at 149 degree of freedom. Since our test statistics is more than the critical value so we reject null hypothesis as our test statistics fall in the rejection region.

Therefore, we conclude that Students are scoring above 2222 on the math portion of the exam.

10 normal six sided dice are thrown.Find the probability of obtaining at least 8 failuresif a success is 5 or 6.
erastova [34]

Answer:

0.2992 = 29.92% probability of obtaining at least 8 failures.

Step-by-step explanation:

For each dice, there are only two possible outcomes. Either a failure is obtained, or a success is obtained. Trials are independent, which means that the binomial probability distribution is used to solve this question.

Binomial probability distribution

The binomial probability is the probability of exactly x successes on n repeated trials, and X can only have two outcomes.

P(X = x) = C_{n,x}.p^{x}.(1-p)^{n-x}

In which C_{n,x} is the number of different combinations of x objects from a set of n elements, given by the following formula.

C_{n,x} = \frac{n!}{x!(n-x)!}

And p is the probability of X happening.

A success is 5 or 6.

A dice has 6 sides, numbered 1 to 6. Since a success is 5 or 6, the other 4 numbers are failures, and the probability of failure is:

p = \frac{4}{6} = 0.6667

10 normal six sided dice are thrown.

This means that n = 10

Find the probability of obtaining at least 8 failures.

This is:

P(X \geq 8) = P(X = 8) + P(X = 9) + P(X = 10)

So

P(X = x) = C_{n,x}.p^{x}.(1-p)^{n-x}

P(X = 8) = C_{10,8}.(0.6667)^{8}.(0.3333)^{2} = 0.1951

P(X = 9) = C_{10,9}.(0.6667)^{9}.(0.3333)^{1} = 0.0867

P(X = 10) = C_{10,10}.(0.6667)^{10}.(0.3333)^{0} = 0.0174

Then

P(X \geq 8) = P(X = 8) + P(X = 9) + P(X = 10) = 0.1951 + 0.0867 + 0.0174 = 0.2992

0.2992 = 29.92% probability of obtaining at least 8 failures.

Graph the function.<br><br> f(x)=cos(x)−3
Lemur [1.5K]

See attachment for the graph of the function f(x) = cos(x) - 3

<h3>How to graph the function?</h3>

The equation of the cosine function is given as:

f(x) = cos(x) - 3

The above function is a cosine function, and the parent function of the cosine function is

f(x) = cos(x)

This means that the function f(x) = cos(x) is translated 3 units down to get the function f(x) = cos(x) -3

Next, we plot the graph of the function f(x) = cos(x) - 3

See attachment for the graph of the function f(x) = cos(x) - 3

there are 5 cookies on a plate. Alicia eats 1 1/2 cookies stuart eats 2 1/3 cookies how many cookies are left on the plate?
MAXImum [283]

Step-by-step explanation:

Alicia eats 1 and 1/2 (Which means 1 cookie and a half of a cookie, or 0.5.)

Stuart eats 2 and 1/3 (Which means 2 cookies and one third of a cookie, or 0.3333+. Basically, 1/3 means let's say you have a pie. You cut the pie into 3 separate pieces. You eat 2 seperate pieces. You have one left. You have one out of the three, which means 1/3.)

So, you want to  add both of those up.

1 + 2 = 3

1/2 + 1/3

To add fractions, you have to get the denominators (Bottom number of the fraction) equal.

So, the least common multiple (LCM) is 6.

Why? let's lay them out.

2: 2, 4, 6

3: 3, 6

These are the <u>LEAST</u> common multiple.

So, you should have

1/6 and 1/6.

Now add the amount of times you did to the numerator (Top number)

So, 1/2

2 + 2 + 2 = 6

3 times, so multiply the numerator by 3.

1 x 3 = 3

3/6

So next, 1/3.

3 + 3 = 6

2 times, so multiply the numerator by 2.

2/6.

Add them both

2/6 + 3/6 = 5/6 (Do not add denominator if they are equal)

+ 3

3 and 5/6 cookies eaten, so

5 - 3 5/6 = 1 & 1/6

1 and 1/6 cookies are left on the plate.
