What might account for a higher level of Euroscepticism in Great Britain than in continental European nations?
iren [92.7K]
One possibility is the geographical difference and the effect it has on people. Great Britain is an Island so it can feel relatively safe (see the fate of GB in WW2 as compared to the rest of Europe) and because of this it can afford a more separatist policy. continental Europe however need a closer cooperation between the neighbours, as they share physical land borders, and only peace and a close cooperation can give the feeling of safety (for example to German neighbors, close economic Union is the best defense against a possible attach from Germany).

In November of 1832, the South Carolina government called for a convention, or meeting, to
UNO [17]

Answer:

1. The South Carolina representatives vote to...

 • Why: The SC representatives were protesting the "Tariff of Abominations," which was a high tax on goods. They were not a fan of strong federal power, so they voted to ignore his law.

2. President Jackson is furious about...

 • Why: Jackson, oh Jackson. What an unconventional guy. He was an advocate of states' rights at times, but he also had no problems with grabbing the reins and controlling unruly states. He threatened to use federal power, and they eventually succumbed, but this was very controversial.

3. As Jackson raises an army to back up...

 • Why: SC realizes that it can't hold up against a federal army, so it backs down.

4. The South Carolina convention decides to accept...

 • Why: Congress makes a compromise with SC by allowing it a lower tariff. Obviously this would annoy Jackson, because he didn't want to be undermined, but eventually this led to peace, for now.

What questions did the Second Continental Congress debate, and how did it answer them?
tatiyna

Answer:

was an American first lady (1797-1801), the wife of John Adams, the second president of the United States, and the mother of John Quincy Adams, the sixth president. Often separated from each other due to John's political work, the self-educated Abigail oversaw the family's household and largely raised their four children on her own, all the while maintaining a lively lifelong correspondence with her husband on the political issues of the day. A strong advocate of women's rights, Abigail Adams encouraged her husband and other members of the Continental Congress to "...remember the ladies..." as they began the work of crafting a new American government.
