Answer:

the shop lost $922.20 by giving away free vegetable plants.

Step-by-step explanation:

you would start by dividing 636 by two to see how many free vegetable plants were given away.

636 / 2 = 318

this shows us how many free vegetable plants were given for free, so then to find how much money the store lost giving them away for free, you would multiply 318 by 2.9

318 x 2.9 = 922.2

Therefore the shop lost $922.20 by giving away free vegetable plants.

Solve the following equation show your work 3{-x + (2x + 1)} = x - 1
Reika [66]

Answer:

x = -2

Step-by-step explanation:

For this problem, we must simply solve for x.  To do this, we will need equation operations, and the use of the distributive property.

Let's work this line by line until we have the value for x:

3{-x + (2x + 1)} = x - 1

3*-x + 3*(2x + 1) = x - 1

-3x + 6x + 3 = x - 1

3x + 3 = x - 1

2x = -4

x = -2

Now we can check our answer for x by plugging back into the original equation and see if the left hand side is equal to the right hand side:

3{-x + (2x + 1)} = x - 1

3{-(-2) + (2(-2) + 1)} ?= (-2) - 1

3{2 + (-4 + 1)} ?= -3

3{2 + (-3)} ?= -3

3{-1} ?= -3

-3 == -3

Thus, we have found the solution for x to be equivalent to negative 2.

Cheers.

There are 850 Douglas fir and Ponderosa pine trees in a section of forest bought by Karamazov Logging Co. The company paid an av
ki77a [65]

Answer:

350 Douglas fir, 500 Ponderosa pine

Step-by-step explanation:

 Let f = the number of fir trees

and p = the number of pine trees.

Then, we have two conditions:

(1)                                f + p = 850

(2)                  300f + 225p = 217 500

(3)                                    p = 850 -f         Subtracted f from each side of (1)

(4)       300f + 225(850 - f) = 217 500     Substituted (3) into (3)

      300f + 191 250 - 225f = 217 500     Distributed 225

                    75f + 191 250 = 217 500     Distributed the 7

                                    75f = 26 250      Subtracted 191 250 each side

(5)                                     f = 350

                             350 + p = 850           Substituted (5) into (1)

                                        p = 500          Subtracted 350 from each side

The company bought 350 fir trees and 500 pine trees.

Check:

(1) 350 + 500 = 850     (2) 300 × 350 + 225 × 500 = 217 500

              850 = 850                  105 000 + 112 500 = 217 500

                                                                   217 500 = 217 500

OK.

A sphere has a radius of 7.5 centimeters. To the nearest cubic centimeter, what is the volume of the sphere?
Naya [18.7K]

Volume of sphere = 1766.25 cm^3

Step-by-step explanation:

The radius of sphere = 7.5 cm

Volume of sphere = ?

The formula used is:

Volume= \frac{4}{3}\pi r^3

Putting values:

Volume= \frac{4}{3}\pi r^3\\Volume=\frac{4}{3}*3.14* (7.5)^3\\Volume= 1766.25\,\,\,cm^3

So, Volume of sphere = 1766.25 cm^3

There are three words in geometry that are not formally defined. These three undefined terms are point, line and plane.

POINT (an undefined term)
In geometry, a point has no dimension (actual size). Even though we represent a point with a dot, the point has no length, width, or thickness. A point is usually named with a capital letter. In the coordinate plane, a point is named by an ordered pair, (x,y).

LINE (an undefined term)
In geometry, a line has no thickness but its length extends in one dimension and goes on forever in both directions. A line is depicted to be a straight line with two arrowheads indicating that the line extends without end in two directions. A line is named by a single lowercase written letter or by two points on the line with an arrow drawn above them.

PLANE (an undefined term)
In geometry, a plane has no thickness but extends indefinitely in all directions. Planes are usually represented by a shape that looks like a tabletop or wall. Even though the diagram of a plane has edges, you must remember that the plane has no boundaries. A plane is named by a single letter (plane m) or by three non-collinear points (plane ABC).

Undefined terms can be combined to define other terms. Noncollinear points, for example, are points that do not lie on the same line. A line segment is the portion of a line that includes two particular points and all points that lie between them, while a ray is the portion of a line that includes a particular point, called the end point, and all points extending infinitely to one side of the end point.

Defined terms can be combined with each other and with undefined terms to define still more terms. An angle, for example, is a combination of two different rays or line segments that share a single end point. Similarly, a triangle is composed of three noncollinear points and the line segments that lie between them.

Everything else builds on these and adds more information to this base. Those added things include all the theorems and other "defined" terms like parallelogram or acute angle. <span>

What fraction of an hour is 56 minutes?<br> Give your answer in its simplest form.
d1i1m1o1n [39]

Answer:

\frac{14}{15}

Step-by-step explanation:

There are 60 minutes in an hour, thus

56 minutes = \frac{56}{60} of an hour

To simplify divide 56 and 60 by 4

56 minutes = \frac{14}{15} ← in simplest form
