Operation Restore hope was being done to create protected environment for humanitarian operations in the southern half of Somalia, which back then controlled by several rebel factions who keep conducting inhuman acts toward citizens of Somalia.
Beginning in 1992, the United States participated in Operation Restore Hope, a United Nations sponsored effort to provide a safe zone for humanitarian workers in the country of Somalia. This is the country that has struggled for the last quarter of a century due to infighting among various factions. The country has been ruled by dictators after independence and its socioeconomic condition is very poor.
