Annie wants to raise a pig for the county fair. The figure below is a diagram of what the pig pen will look like in order to fit

on the side of Annie’s house. In order to raise a pig, Annie needs to have a pig pen that is between 80ft2 to 100ft2.
What is the square footage Annie has available for the pig pen? Is this space big enough for her to raise a pig?

5 0

Answer:

30 to 50 more feet

Step-by-step explanation:

Add up all the sides to find the perimeter of the shape for the pen:

18 + 22.5 + 5 + 4.5 = 50

Since 50 is less than 80 to 100, then Annie has 30 to 50 more feet she can use for the pen.

The braking distance, in feet of a car a Travling at v miles per hour is given.
irakobra [83]

The braking distance is the distance the car travels before coming to a stop after the brakes are applied

a. The braking distances are as follows;

  • The braking distance at 25 mph, is approximately <u>63.7 ft.</u>
  • The braking distance at 55 mph,  is approximately <u>298.35 ft.</u>
  • The braking distance at 85 mph,  is approximately <u>708.92 ft.</u>

b. If the car takes 450 feet to brake, it was traveling with a speed of 98.211 ft./s

Reason:

The given function for the braking distance is D = 2.6 + v²/22

a. The braking distance if the car is going 25 mph is therefore;

25 mph = 36.66339 ft./s

D = 2.6 + \dfrac{36.66339^2}{22} = 63.7 \ ft.

At 25 mph, the braking distance is approximately <u>63.7 ft.</u>

At 55 mph, the braking distance is given as follows;

55 mph = 80.65945  ft.s

D = 2.6 + \dfrac{80.65945^2}{22} \approx 298.35 \ ft.

At 55 mph, the braking distance is approximately <u>298.35 ft.</u>

At 85 mph, the braking distance is given as follows;

85 mph = 124.6555 ft.s

D = 2.6 + \dfrac{124.6555^2}{22} \approx 708.92 \ ft.

At 85 mph, the braking distance is approximately <u>708.92 ft.</u>

b. The speed of the car when the braking distance is 450 feet is given as follows;

450 = 2.6 + \dfrac{v^2}{22}

v² = (450 - 2.6) × 22 = 9842.8

v = √(9842.2) ≈ 98.211 ft./s

The car was moving at v ≈ <u>98.211 ft./s</u>

Solve the inequality -5(d-2)&gt;35
chubhunter [2.5K]

Answer:

d < -5

Step-by-step explanation:

Okay, so the equation is  -5(d-2)>35

First we have to use distributive property to get rid of the parenthesis.

we do -5(d) --> -5d

then, -5(-2) --> 10

So now we just redo the equation---

-5d + 10 > 35

now you have to isolate d, the variable

First, to isolate you have to get rid of 10. Subtract 10 on both sides.

-5d + 10 > 35

      - 10    -10

----------------------

-5d       >  25

Then you have -5d > 25. You have to do the opposite operation again to make the d by itself, so you divide -5 on each side.

   -5d > 25

   -----    -----

    -5       -5

-5d/-5 is d because the -5's cancel out. 25/-5 is -5. Now, you have to flip the equation because when working with inequalities, you have to flip the symbol.

SO,,, the answer is

d < -5

Hope this helps!!

Linda and Imani are each traveling in a car to the beach. Linda’s travel is modeled by a table. Imanis travel it modeled by grap
tino4ka555 [31]

Answer:

Imani traveled faster because her distance surpassed Linda's distance after the fourth hour.

Step-by-step explanation:

1. Understand the slope:

      Ok, so the slope basically tells us how fast Imani and Linda traveled, so if we solve for the slope we know how fast Imani and Linda traveled.

2. Find Linda's slope:

      - Take any two points: (0,10) and (1, 65).

      Slope = (<u>y1 - y2)/(x1 - x2)</u>

<u> </u>                 = (65-10)/(1-0)

                   = 55

    Since the slope is 55, we know her speed is 55 miles per hour.

2. Find Imani's slope:

      - Take any two points: (0,0) and (1, 60).

      Slope = (<u>y1 - y2)/(x1 - x2)</u>

<u> </u>                 = (60-0)/(1-0)

                   = 60

    Since the slope is 60, we know her speed is 60 miles per hour.

3. Compare: Since 60>55, we know Imani traveled faster. If we look at options, we can see there's only one answer which shows that Imani traveled faster, so that must be the answer.

A student answers
Marina CMI [18]
So, we have the percentage she gets which is, 90% and the number of questions she answers correctly, which is 27

To find the number of questions in the exam, make an equation
(90% = \frac{90}{100} = 0.9)
\frac{90}{100} = \frac{27}{x}
cross multiply and equate them
90x = 27 x 100
90x = 2700
divide by 90 on either sides to isolate x in order to find the answer
\frac{90x}{90} =  \frac{2700}{90}
90 and 90 cancels out
x = 30
So your final answer will be, there were 30 questions in the exam paper.
