A pony ride at a carnival gives the children rides in a circular pattern. The pony can only walk 500 feet before it needs to dri

nk some water or it will become very ill. The radius of the circle is 15 feet. Use $\footnotesize{\pi}$ = 3.14 and approximate answers to one decimal place. a. How many feet does the pony walk in one ride around the circle? b. How many times can the pony give a ride before it needs a drink? You want to cover the rectangular area outside the circle in grass. The rectangle area is 45 feet long and 30 feet wide. c. What is the area of the rectangle? d. What is the area of the circular ride? e. What is the area needed for grass?

circumference of the circle = 2 x PI x R

a.  2 x 3.14 x 15 feet = 94.2 feet

b. 500/94.2 = 5.3 rides

c. 45 x 30 = 1350 square feet

d. = 3.14x 15^2 = 706.5 square feet

e. 1350-706.5 = 643.5 square feet

PLEASE HELP ME. :( :(
STatiana [176]
Y = mx + b

4 = m(248) + b
6 = m(372) + b
subtract the two equations to get
-2 = m(-124) + 0
m = 1/62

Then plug in m into one of the equations to find b
4 = (1/62)(248) + b
4 = 4 + b
b = 0

So the equation is
y = (1/62)x + 0
or
y = (1/62)x
or
y = x/62

edit: I totally didn't use point slope. It should be
        y + 0 = (1/62)(x + 0)
        or  y = (1/62)x

(since b is 0, that means she started driving directly at home)

Alice and Bob are currently 1000 feet apart and are both running directly
zepelin [54]

The distance the bird has flown by the time Alice and Bob meet is 40 feet.

Given that the distance between Alice and Bob is 1000 feet and their running speed is 10 feet per second and the speed of bird is 20 feet per second.

Distance equals speed multiplied by time.

Distance between Alice and Bob=1000 feet.

Distance between the bird and Bob=1000 feet.

Speed of Alice and Bob=10 feet per second.

The combined speed of Alice and Bob=20 feet per second.

Since the two are running directly toward each other the distance each will cover at the meeting point is 50 feet (1000/20)

The time covered at the meeting point=20 second (1000/50)

Speed of the bird=20 feet per second.

The distance covered by the bird towards Bob at their meeting point is 40 feet(20 feet*20 seconds).

Hence the distance the bird has flown by the time Alice and Bob meet is 40 feet.
