When animals eat plants and/or animals, the energy stored in the food is
sweet [91]

Answer:

A The amount of energy used by the animals, added to the amount of energy lost to heat, equals the amount of energy from the plants eaten by the animal.

Explanation:

The law of conservation of energy states that "energy can neither be created nor destroyed but can only be changed from one form to another". This means that during the energy transfer cycle, energy cannot be created or destroyed by any process, however, it can only be changed from one form to another via the different processes undergone by living organisms.

This question describes how animals get food needed for their life processes by feeding on plants. However, they (animals) make use of only a little fraction (about 10%) of the total energy in plants they feed on, because most of the energy (about 90%) is lost as heat when the plant undergoes metabolic activities.

This situation describes the law of conservation of energy in the statement that "The amount of energy used by the animals, added to the amount of energy lost to heat, equals the amount of energy from the plants eaten by the animal" because it shows that energy cannot be created neither can it be lost, hence, the sum of the energy that was converted to heat energy by plants and the energy utilized by the animal will give the total amount of energy initially present in the plant before the animal fed on it.

Which best explains the purpose of the rhetorical device used in the following sentences?
Pie
The correct answer should be D. To make the main points more memorable through repetition.

This isn't appealing to ethos because ethos is appealing to credibility. It is questionable whether or not the image itself is memorable or not.

Repetition and parallelisms in speeches are used to make something more memorable and quotable. It is supposed to persuade you and this kind of sentence manipulation enables good diction.

____ [38]

Answer:

We were returning after football match late in the evening. As we were walking through the rather lonely road, we heard footsteps behind us…

“Hey, you forgot your backpack”, a little girl handed me the blue and red backpack.

            “Oh, Thanks”, I mumbled, confused.

The girl ran away very quickly and hoppity. Strange, I thought. On our way home, I couldn’t stop thinking about that odd little girl. I never saw her at any of the practices. Maybe it was the coach’s daughter? Even if it was, would he really let his daughter chase after people when they left things behind? I shook my head and tried to forget that it even

When I got home, I threw the backpack on the couch, an everyday routine. My mom mumbled something about “Don’t do that” as I was heading to the kitchen. I ignored her and went to get a snack. Suddenly, the backpack started making noises. It was very faint.

I was torn between going to check out the noises and staying and hiding behind the counter. I had to admit; I was scared. Maybe the girl put ghost in it, I didn’t know.

The noises started getting louder and louder. My mom complained, thinking that I was making the loud noises.  I approached the bag, very slowly. I was very hesitant. When I got up the courage, I opened the bag. It was full of kittens, luckily not hurt by the fall.
