British policies governing North American colonies largely shaped the views of colonists to support open rebellion and ultimately to support a massive revolution against the crown. The British Government's policies of taxation and other measures led the colonists to feel oppressed and unrepresented by their political leaders. This helped to foment unrest which ultimately led to the American Revolution.
