Why does cuba need to import food for its people ​

There is limited arable land on the island to grow food for all of its people.

Explanation:

Arable land refers to the type of land that possess enough nutrients and proper composition to be used as agricultural field. Cuba did not possess enough Arable Land since the government reserved large portion of those lands for tourism sector rather than agriculture.

As a result, Cuba couldn't manage to produce enough foods for its people by their own. Currently, foods product such as rice, cereals , and meats are the largest import expenditure from Cuba.
