In one fishing ground off the coast of England, herring were fished so extensively that their numbers dropped 30-fold in 15 year

s. A fishing ban allowed herring numbers to rebound to the extent that they are now a species of least concern. For a species that is declining, like the herring, why might a scientists want to establish a "no-fishing" zone (like a marine protected area) as a tool for dealing with overfishing? Explain two benefits and list at least one potential limitation of this type of intervention.

A no-fishing zone should be established so that:
a. the fish would have time to reproduce and create more of its kind
b. the fish would have time to grow and rich its fully-matured state

Two benefits of this practice can:
a. stimulate the balance within the ecosystem through the predator-prey relationship
b. control the relationship of the environment and its continuous change.

A limiting potential for this practice is that:
a. variety of other fishes might also decline because of the increase in number of a particular species took place.

What is the basic unit that is put together over and over to build a strand of dna?
amm1812

The basic units that are put together over and over to build a strand of dna are called as nucleotides.

Explanation:

DNA is a heteropolymer that involves many monomers that is the nucleotides that are joined together by phosphodiester bonds in order to develop a complete DNA. The nucleotides consists of nitrogenous bases, phosphate groups and the sugar molecules that are bound together to form a complete nucleotide. The phosphate groups form a backbone through which the nucleotides are joined together.

Estimating Population Size – Review the two approaches to estimating population size and answer the following questions.
Andre45 [30]

Answer:

b) there are 56 deer in 1000 acres of area.

Explanation:

If a person has 1000 aces of land and a local wildlife biologist tell him that on every 18 acres only one deer is present so in 1000 acres there are 56 deer are present.

calculation;

1 deer ------ 18 acres

x --------- 1000 acres

by cross multiplication, we get

18 x = 1000

both side divided by 18, we get

x = 55.5

by rounding off we get

x = 56

Note: Question is Incomplete i have added full question in picture format. And marked correct answers.

Answer:

This question is about antibiotics resistance development in bacteria over time. Resistance develop only when we overuse these antibiotics. Resistance development in bacteria lead to their exponential growth resulting in more infections.

Also See attachment for full question and answer.

The true statements are:

A. Because the population grew more rapidly after time point C, the bacteria must have acquired a second drug- resistance mutation.

C. Bacteria that acquired a mutation that conferred drug- resistance had a growth advantage over non-resistant bacteria.

D. Between time points C and D, drug-resistant bacteria were reproducing faster than non- drug resistant bacteria were dying.
