Petrarch was pulled between two worlds, the ideal world of antiquity and his desire to improve the current world. He believed he could learn to make the world a better place by studying classical literature. He, along with other humanists, admired the formal beauty of classical writing. He attempted to share the teachings of classical texts by studying them, and then, imitating them in Latin writings of his own.
It codified several branches of law, including commercial and criminal law, and divided civil law into categories of property and family. The Napoleonic Code made the authority of men over their families stronger, deprived women of any individual rights, and reduced the rights of illegitimate children.
Judicial, legislative, and executive
The whistleblower protection act was enacted in 1989 to protect government employees from being fires, punished or other forms or retaliation if they report illegal or dishonest activities occurring in government organizations. In 2012 the whistleblower protection enhancement act was also signed into law.
