Radiometric dates calculated from minerals in sedimentary rocks produce ages that ________.
guajiro [1.7K]

Answer:

c. are too old (predate sedimentary deposition)

Explanation:

Radiometric dates calculated from minerals in sedimentary rocks produce ages that are too old and often predates the sedimentary deposition.

Radiometric dating involves the uses of radioactive elements in rocks to measure the absolute age of rock.

It involves comparing the daughter to parent ratio because the decay started when the minerals formed in a rock in a period of crystallization or metamorphic event.

  • Sedimentary rocks are often made up of re-worked minerals.
  • They are derived from pre-existing igneous and metamorphic rocks.
  • When radioactive minerals from these sources finds their way into sediments, they give the age of their parent rock and not that of the sedimentary rock because their activity is not being reset.

Provide at least two statements that explain the relationship between the position of the Earth and the seasons.
ElenaW [278]
Seasons happen because Earth spins around an axis which is tilted at an angle of 23.5 degrees. Because of this spinning, parts of Earth gets nearer or more distant from the Sun. Around the June Solstice, the Northern Hemisphere is turned towards the Sun, and gets more direct Sun rays. Because of this, the Northern Hemisphere experience summer in June, July and August. Opposite from this, for the people of South Hemisphere, June, July and August represent the months of winter. Around the December Solstice, the situation completely changes: Southern Hemisphere is turned towards the Sun, and Northern is more distant.
