Florence was born on 20th may 1820 in Italy.she was very caring girl from her childhood. she used to take care of her little dolls as if they were real persons. her parents wanted her to get married to a rich gentleman and settle down but she refused. she had different plan for herself. she wanted to take care of sick people so she decided to take nursing during Crimean war in 1854 AD. she and her team of 38 nurse came to take care of injured army but the condition of hospital was pathetic due to lack of care peoples were dying she and her fellows clean the hospital florence didn't even rest at night and she walk from 1 bed to another with the lamp on her hand making sure every patient were fine. so lovingly patients called her 'lady with lamp' or 'lady bird' after that her effort was recognised once she came back from Crimean war. she was awarded with other merit at 1907 AD. Then after that she established a hospital named scutari.she dedicated her all life to sick people and passed away on 13th June 1910 AD. Every year 12th may is observed as ' International nurse day' to commemorate her birth and role of nurse.
