A constant-volume calorimeter was calibrated by carrying out a reaction known to release 3.50 kJ of heat in 0.200 L of solution
Dmitrij [34]

Answer:

The change in internal energy is - 1.19 kJ

Explanation:

Step 1: Data given

Heat released = 3.5 kJ

Volume calorimeter = 0.200 L

Heat release results in a 7.32 °C

Temperature rise for the next experiment = 2.49 °C

Step 2: Calculate Ccalorimeter

Qcal = ccal * ΔT ⇒ 3.50 kJ = Ccal *7.32 °C

Ccal = 3.50 kJ /7.32 °C = 0.478 kJ/°C

Step 3: Calculate energy released

Qcal = 0.478 kJ/°C *2.49 °C = 1.19 kJ

Step 4: Calculate change in internal energy

ΔU =  Q + W       W = 0  (no expansion)

Qreac = -Qcal = - 1.19 kJ

ΔU = - 1.19 kJ

The change in internal energy is - 1.19 kJ

Which condition in a nebula would prevent nuclear fusion

My limited understanding is you need pressure, temperature and enough elements that can fuse. If the temperature and pressure aren't high enough and/or you don't have enough elements that can fuse, then no fusion.

In fact I've never heard of fusion in a nebula, only in a star. The exception being a brown dwarf, which is considered substellar at 10 to 90 Jupiters in mass, and they can fuse deuterium (if over 13J) and also lithium (if over 60 J). But the burn through all of it in about 10 million years and wouldn't emit light like a main sequence star would.

Does a negative exponent mean that the number is less than 1
Reptile [31]
The negative sign on an exponent means the reciprocal. Think of it this way: just as a positive exponent means repeated multiplication by the base, a negative exponent means repeated division by the base.

25) Base your answer on the information below and on your knowledge of chemistry. In a laboratory investigation, an HCl(aq) solu
Veseljchak [2.6K]

Answer:

Concentration of KOH is 0.02M

15.0 mL of a 1.0 M HCl(aq) solution is a better conductor of electricity because it is more concentrated and has greater ions in solution.

Explanation:

Equation of the reaction;

KOH(aq) + HCl(aq) ----> KCl(aq) + H2O(l)

To determine the concentration of the KOH

Concentration of acid CA= 0.010 M

Volume of acid VA= 15.0 ml

Concentration of base CB= ???

Volume of base VB= 7.5 ml

Number of moles of acid NA= 1

Number of moles of base NB= 1

From;

CAVA/CBVB= NA/NB

CAVANB = CBVBNA

CB= CAVANB/VBNA

Substituting values;

CB= 0.010 × 15.0 ×1 / 7.5 ×1

CB= 0.02 M

Therefore, the concentration of the KOH is 0.02M

15.0mL of 1.0 M HCl(aq) is a better conductor of electricity than 15.0mL of 0.010 M HCl(aq) because 15.0mL of 1.0 M HCl(aq) is more concentrated and has more ions in solution than 15.0mL of 0.010 M. Since ions are charge carriers in solution, the more the concentration of ions in solutions, the greater the conductivity of the solution. Hence the answer.
