Answer:

A. Because of base pairing, each strand has all the information to serve as a template for the other strand.

Explanation:

Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is a molecule composed of two antiparallel polynucleotide chains. This double helix serves as a template for its own duplication. DNA templating refers to the process by which a portion of the DNA molecule in a single strand is used as a template to be copied by complementarity base pairing. According to base-pairing rules, Adenine (A) always pairs with Thymine, while Guanine (G) always pairs with Cytosine (C). These nucleotide bases are each linked with their complementary base by hydrogen bonding. When base pairs separate, the hydrogen bond acceptor and donor groups of each strand allow the addition of nucleotides and synthesis of new DNA strands, a process catalyzed by specialized enzymes (DNA polymerases).

What is the role of your kidneys in compensating for low levels of oxygen
TEA [102]

Explanation:

When there are low oxygen levels in blood, the blood pH tends to lower. This is because there is an increased level of carbon dioxide in the blood that is converted to carbonic acid by carbonic anhydrase. When carbon acid dissociates, into H⁺ and HCO₃⁻ . The H⁺ influences the increase in acidity of the blood. The kidneys will excrete most of the H⁺ and retain most of the HCO₃⁻ to help maintain the right blood pH. However, most of blood pH homeostasis is maintained largely by the lungs.

All of the following are periods off prenatal developments except
qwelly [4]

Explanation:

1. All of the following are periods of prenatal development except: a.germinal

b.embryonic

c.fetal

d.postpartum

Prenatal development describes the 40 week period before a child’s birth and the processes that occur during that time during prenatal development. Cells containing genetic material called chromosomes determine all physical characteristics of an organism including biological sex, height and eye color through expression of genes.

  • The germinal stage describes the process from conception through implantation which is approximately two weeks, and begins when an egg is fertilized by sperm to form a zygote.
  • The embryonic stage follows this until week eight of pregnancy; here the zygote divides into multiple cells in layers that determine systems like the nervous system; skeleton and respiratory system. The embryo travels through the fallopian tubes and implants itself in the lining of the uterus where blood vessels form the placenta.
  • During the fetal stage spanning from week 9 until birth, differentiation, formation of sex organs internal organs and sensory perception occurs. The fetus also undergoes major brain development to form psychological and psychosocial traits. Immediately following the birth of the fetus is called the postnatal period
