Je Tsongkhapa (1357–1419 CE) founded Yellow Hats, which is the newest of the schools of Tibetan Buddhism. Je Tsongkhapa during his live times greatly admired kadampa teachings. He was also an enthusiastic promoter of Mahayana principle of compassion which kadam school emphasis was laid on. The yellow Hats sect is also known as The Gelug, Gelug-pa, dGe Lugs Pa, dge-lugs-pa or Dgelugspa. The most prominent figure is Daiai lama.

Ngawang Lobsang Gyatso is the 5th daiai lama, he acted as a political and spiritual leader and is seen as the greatest among the daiai lamas.
