55 minutes later than 11:55
iogann1982 [59]
Let's split it up to make it a little easier.
There's 50 minutes plus another 5 minutes that needs to be added to 11:55
Now, if we add the 5 minutes to 11:55, it becomes 12:00
And we simply have to add the other 50 minutes to 12:00, making it
12:50
So, 55 minutes later than 11:55 is 12:50

Find the maclaurin series for f(x) using the definition of a maclaurin series. [assume that f has a power series expansion. do n
Nady [450]

The equation of f(x) = e^{-6x} by maclaurin series is f(x)=\sum_{i=0}^{\infty} \frac{(-6.x)^{i}  }{i!}.

The maclaurin series for f(x) is defined by the following formula:

f(x) = \sum_{i=0}^{\infty} \frac{f^{(i)} (0)}{i!} .x^{i}--------------(1)

Where f^{i} is the i - th derivative of the function

If f(x) = e^{-6x}, then the formula of the i - th derivative of the function is:

f^{i} =(-6)^{i} .e^{-6x}----------------------(2)

Then,

f^{i}(0) = (-6)^{i}

Lastly, the equation of the trascendental function by Maclaurin series is: f(x)=\sum_{i=0}^{\infty} \frac{(-6)^{i}.x^{i} }{i!} \\f(x)=\sum_{i=0}^{\infty} \frac{(-6.x)^{i} }{i!}---------------(3)

Hence,

The equation of f(x) = e^{-6x} by maclaurin series is f(x)=\sum_{i=0}^{\infty} \frac{(-6.x)^{i}  }{i!}.

Solve for x. <br><br> 6^(x/2)=5^(1-x)
slavikrds [6]

Hello from MrBillDoesMath!

Answer:

x = log5 / ( (1/2)log6 + log5)

    approximately  0.642

Discussion:

Take the logarithm of both sides ( to "pull" the exponents down so we can work on them!)

6^(x/2)) = 5^(1-x)

log ( 6^(x/2)) = log (5^(1-x))      =>   using log (a^n) = n log a

(x/2) log6 = (1-x) log5               =>   add x log5 to both sides

(x/2) log6 + xlog5 =  log5 - xlog5 + xlog5   =>

(x/2) log6 + xlog5 = log5          => factor x from the lhs

x (  (1/2) log6 + log5) = log5     =>

x = log5 / ( (1/2)log6 + log5)

The above can be further simplified but that's as far as I want to take it.The value of x is approx equal to  0.642

Thank you,

MrB
