Answer:

When Bigger says, 'Half the time I feel like I’m on the outside of the world peeping in through a knot-hole in the fence' he means that, he feels as if he is not a part of this world.

Explanation:

Bigger Thomas is a central character from the novel ‘Native Son’ which is authored by Richard Wright. The story revolves around a the protagonist Bigger who is poor and a black man.

In the novel we come across a phase when Bigger says, ‘Half the time I feel like I’m on the outside of the world peeping in through a knot-hole in the fence.’ By this he means that despite being a part of the world, he feels detached. Please can anyone help me answer this. This is for English.
Thepotemich [5.8K]

The poet, Yeats, is describing the daily routing of an old mother. He presents his ideas in a poem describing how she completes those activities. He is descring the old woman as hardworking and tired, and he presents these ideas in the last line, where it says that she must work because she is old and the seed of the fire (a lantern most likely representing her life or her day) gets feeble and cold (it ends). In essence, the author describes the old woman as harworking and tired, and at the end of the day, the "fire," or the Sun, grows feeble and cold, signifying that the day is ending and the cycle will begin again tomorrow.
