Answer:

Shakespeare used stories from older books of all sorts for his non-historical plays. He borrowed from Latin and Greek authors as well as adapting stories from elsewhere in Europe. Hamlet is borrowed from an old Scandinavian tale, but Romeo and Juliet comes from an Italian writer writing at the same time as Shakespeare.

If you mean Athena the goddess of war and wisdom...I would say a hawk or eagle would represent her. Birds are peaceful creatures, but when they attack, they attack hard! Birds like owls are followed with wisdom, but a hawk in my opinion would best represent her. Since it is a peaceful creature, but will strike a "war" if necessary.
