Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

What is the solution of the proportion? 14/12 = D/48<br> a. 56<br> b. 672<br> c. 168<br> d. 576
Verdich [7]
So basically we can simplify the fraction by finding the gcf which is the greatest common factor so 14/12 both have 2 in common we simplify that by dividing by 2 so 14÷2 is 7/6 is the fraction on the left hand side and d/48 is the fraction on the right hand side so to solve for d we have to divide 336/6 whixh equals 56 as tour answer. Hoped this helped!!

Find the equation of a line that is perpendicular to y = 3x – 5 and passes through the point (1, -3).
Svetradugi [14.3K]

keeping in mind that perpendicular lines have negative reciprocal slopes, let's check for the slope of the equation above

\begin{array}{|c|ll} \cline{1-1} slope-intercept~form\\ \cline{1-1} \\ y=\underset{y-intercept}{\stackrel{slope\qquad }{\stackrel{\downarrow }{m}x+\underset{\uparrow }{b}}} \\\\ \cline{1-1} \end{array}\qquad \qquad y = \stackrel{\stackrel{m}{\downarrow }}{3}x-5

well then therefore

\stackrel{\textit{perpendicular lines have \underline{negative reciprocal} slopes}} {\stackrel{slope}{3\implies \cfrac{3}{1}} ~\hfill \stackrel{reciprocal}{\cfrac{1}{3}} ~\hfill \stackrel{negative~reciprocal}{-\cfrac{1}{3}}}

so we're really looking for the equation of a line with slope of -1/3 and that passes through (1, -3 )

(\stackrel{x_1}{1}~,~\stackrel{y_1}{-3})\qquad \qquad \stackrel{slope}{m}\implies -\cfrac{1}{3} \\\\\\ \begin{array}{|c|ll} \cline{1-1} \textit{point-slope form}\\ \cline{1-1} \\ y-y_1=m(x-x_1) \\\\ \cline{1-1} \end{array}\implies y-\stackrel{y_1}{(-3)}=\stackrel{m}{-\cfrac{1}{3}}(x-\stackrel{x_1}{1})\implies y+3=-\cfrac{1}{3}x+\cfrac{1}{3} \\\\\\ y=-\cfrac{1}{3}x+\cfrac{1}{3}-3\implies y=-\cfrac{1}{3}x-\cfrac{8}{3}

You are about to take the road test for your driver's license. You hear that only 38% of candidates pass the test the first t
OLga [1]

Answer:

Answers may vary but will most likely be close to 2.

Step-by-step explanation

  1.        Given:

                 first test:38%

                 second test:76%

    SIMULATION FIRST TEST

Randomly select a 2-digit number.

If the digit is between 00 and 35 then you passed the test,else you did not pass the test.

SIMULATION SECOND TEST

Randomly select a 2-digit number.

if the digit is between 00 and 75 then you passed the test,else you did not pass the test.

SIMULATION TRIAL

Perform the simulation of the first test.if you did not pass the first test then perform the simulation of the second test.

Record the number of trials needed to pass the first or second test.

Repeat 20 times and take the average of the 20 recorded number of trials

(what is the sum of recorded values divided by 20).

Note:you will most likely obtain a result of about two trials needed.
