Answer:

As in all or almost all Shakespeare plays the opening scenes of Macbeth are key to setting up the problem the play addresses. In his Scottish play Shakespeare uses the opening scenes to set the two main contexts in which the regicide, usurpation, tyranny, and fall of the tyrant occur. The two are, we might say, the earthly or political context and the cosmic or superhuman context represented by the witches. In presenting these two contexts Shakespeare appears to be engaging in a dialogue with Machiavelli's Prince, taking cues from Machiavelli's political analysis on how to understand the political character of Scotland and taking issue with Machiavelli's ultimate agenda of a conquest of Fortuna.

Journal Information

The Review of Politics publishes primarily philosophical and historical studies of politics, especially those concentrating on political theory and American political thought. Thoughtful scholarly reflections on all aspects of politics - including analysis of institutions and techniques, analysis of literary reflections on politics, political interpretations of literary works, and constitutional theory and analysis - are also welcome. Some of the first essays advocating 'realism' were published in The Review, as well as articles from its opponents in international relations; both perspectives are accepted parts of the journal's coverage. ___my mother grew old, she often thought of all the thins she did __she was young
umka21 [38]

Answer:

Ever since my mother grew old, she often thought of all the things she did when she was young.

Explanation:

In the given sentence structure, the blanks in the sentence propose an event of the past while the second blank is to be an adverb. This means that while the first blank will talk of the conditional past event, the second blank provides the modification or extra detail about the verb in the sentence.

As the first part of the sentence refers to a past event, we can put "ever since" in the blank. Ever since is used to refer to certain point in the past event leading up to the present,

Now, the next part of the sentence provides us what the mother used to do, with an added detail of her thinking about her younger days. The blank in the second part will be filled by the adverb "when", indicating the time when she was young.

Thus, the final sentence will be

Ever since my mother grew old, she often thought of all the things she did when she was young.

Author's Purpose: What is the author's
purpose for writing New Moon?
9966 [12]
If you’ve read the story behind Twilight, then you know that I didn’t set out to write a novel or begin a career as an author. I was just writing down a story for my personal enjoyment, letting it grow as it would and lead where it would. No pressure, just fun.
