Answer: Progressive era 1890 - 1920.

Explanation:

The progressive era is a period of democratization of institutions and society in the united states. In this context, many positive changes have taken place in American society. However, this policy has had a global impact on several occasions. Primarily the American-Spanish war that took place after the American media wrote about Spanish violence in Cuba. These headlines greatly encouraged the authorities in the United States to start a war with Spain. Another echo of that policy is a reflection of President Woodward Wilson’s administrative action in the field of international politics. It is an effort to form a League of Nations to prevent future wars in the world.

The Plymouth colony is important because the American people have decided that it represents who they (Anglo-White-Americans) are as a nation.

It wasn’t particularly significant otherwise.

Was it the first colony? 

Not remotely, there were plenty of other colonies all over the coast of America that came before it.

Not really. It was the first truly successful BRITISH colony, but there were lots of other far more successful colonies started in North America that has continued to this day.

Well… I guess it is a number of contributing factors: 

 

The Plymouth Colony was the first truly self-sufficient British colony. The British established the ‘Thirteen colonies’ who eventually declared their independence from Britain as the ‘United States of America’.

It’s worth noting though that The United States of America at this point was only a small fraction of what we now know as the USA. 

 

The 13 Colonies / USA effectively merged with (gained control of) the large French and Spanish territories, subsuming their settlements and people. 

 

Despite the fact that the modern USA is made up of Spanish, French, British, African, and native colonists/settlers (as well as from every other nation on Earth), the white-British historical viewpoint and narrative are still dominant.

Nationalism serves as a uniting force. The recent World Cup united each country, where people came together as aspirants for their team and, ultimately, their country. These fans were united in cheering for their players and equally united in recovering from defeat. This illustrates the spirit of national identity. By taking a strong sense of who we are, dishonor and fright become foreign concepts. We developed to be bold and confident, sometimes overly so. We become so occupied in our views that we drown in circumstances of opposition. We cross the boundaries to defame others in the name of unity. Unfortunately, that is where unity is no longer present, and the individual is singled out. Mistreating a national identity as superior is not appropriate. Although we are citizens of whatever country, everybody is a citizen of this one planet called Earth.
