Answer: The area is 1 1/4. The perimeter is 6.

Step-by-step explanation: 2.45 is about 2.5. 5/8 is about 1/2. To find the area we need to multiply length times width. 2.5 is 2 and 1/2 which is 5/2. 5/2 times 1/2 is 5/4. To simplify it divide 5 by 4 which is 1 with remainder 1. 5/4 is 1 1/4. Therefore the area is 1 1/4 meters squared. To find the perimeter we have to add length + length + width + width. . 2.5 is the same thing as 2 1/2. 5/8 is about 1/2 if we use benchmarks. 2 1/2 + 2 1/2 + + 1/2 + 1/2 is 6. The perimeter is 6.

If the price after taking 25% off is $300, then $300 is 75% of the original price.

  $300 = 0.75p

  $300/0.75 = p = $400

The original price was $400.

_____

Check

0.25 × $400 = $100

The perimeter of a building is 900 feet. If the length of the building is 400 feet, find the width. How many lights will be need
Helen [10]

Answer:

The width of the building is 50 lamps and 60 lamps will be needed.

Step-by-step explanation:

The perimeter is computed by the sum of the sides of the building, since the length and width are equal on the oposite sides of the building, the perimeter is given by:

perimeter = 2*length + 2*width

900 = 2*(400) + 2*width

2*width + 800 = 900

2*width = 900 - 800

2*width = 100

width = 100/2 = 50 feets

To know how many lights bulbs will be needed we need to take the perimeter of the building and divide it by the space between the lamps. We have:

number o lamps = 900/15 = 60 lamps

Suppose a sample of 716 suspected criminals is drawn. Of these people, 286 were captured. Using the data, estimate the proportio
tamaranim1 [39]

Answer:

The proportion is p = 0.399

Step-by-step explanation:

The estimate of a proportion is the number of desired outcomes divided by the number of total outcomes.

Desired outcomes:

286 people captured, so D = 286.

Total outcomes:

Sample of 716 suspected criminals, so T = 716.

Proportion

p = \frac{286}{716} = 0.399
