Suppose a car traveling at 8m/s is brought to rest in a distance of 20m.what is it's deceleration and time taken.
LiRa [457]

Answer:

         Time - taken = 2.5 s

          deceleration= -8 m/s²

Solution:

            Given:

                     speed, v = 8 m/s

                 distance, d = 20m

              To Find:

                     deacceleration = ?

               As we know speed is defined as

                          v = d/t

                plugging in the values

                          t =  20/ 8

                          t = 2.5s

                Now from deceleration formula

                        a =  - v/ t

                        a = - 20/ 2.5

                        a = - 8 m/s²

          Thus, the time taken and acceleration is 2.5 s and -8 m/s²

          respectively.

A hydraulic lift is made by sealing an ideal fluid inside a container with an input piston of cross-sectional area 0.004 m2 , an
kvv77 [185]

Answer:

Maximum weight that can be lifted = 18,000 N

Explanation:

Given:

Cross-sectional area of input (A1) = 0.004 m²

Cross-sectional area of the output (A2) = 1.2 m ²

Force (F) = 60 N

Computation:

Pressure on input piston (P1) = F / A1

Assume,

Maximum weight lifted by piston = W

Pressure on output piston (P2) = W / A2

We, know that

P1 = P2

[F / A1]  = [W / A2]

[60 / 0.004] = [W / 1.2]

150,00 = W / 1.2

Weight = 18,000 N

Maximum weight that can be lifted = 18,000 N

4. I plan to spear a fish that is swimming in a lake. Do I need to understand refraction in order to succeed? Why or why not?
Anit [1.1K]
Yes, you need to understand refraction, because refraction is when an object bends when going into a different medium, meaning, when you put the spear from air to water, it will bend the shape making it harder to spear the fish.
Hopefully that helps!
