A survey by the state health department found that the average person ate 208 pounds of vegetables last year and 125 5/8 pounds
Katena32 [7]

Total amount of vegetables consumed per year are 208 pounds

So per month, the amount of vegetables consumed would be 208 divided by 12 which is the number of months in a year, so :

208 ÷ 12 = 17.3

So the average person ate 17.3 pounds of vegetables per month.

Likewise for the fruits we do the same calculation.

125 5/8 pounds can be written as 125.625 pounds when you make the fraction 5/8 into a decimal.

Now we divide by 12, so:

125.625 ÷ 12 = 10.47

So the  average person ate 10.47 pounds of fruits per month.
