a student found the slope of a line that passes through the points (-3,10) and (5,-7) to be 3/8. what mistake did he make?
Yuki888 [10]
Slope = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)
slope = (-7-10) / (5 - (-3)
slope is supposed to be -17/8
I am guessing she made her mistake by adding a negative sign...the student did : (-7 - (-10) / (5 - (-3) = (-7 + 10) / (5 + 3) = 3/8

In the diagram, N, O, and P are congruent. Find x.
Digiron [165]

x=2 because, the question says that the sides are congruent. Therefore if the side away form 5 is one less than it so will x be one less than 3 .
