Hello!! Whenever your brain is addicted to drugs, it does not function/work properly as someone who is not addicted to drugs. Just to name a few drugs, Nicotine affects Acetylcholine because it activates receptors and increases alertness. Most people who are addicted to Nicotine are considered to be almost paranoid because they are more alert than usual. Valium affects the neurotransmitter GABA because it enhances receptor binding causing to decrease anxiety. Another one would be Cocaine because it affects the neurotransmitter Dopamine which blocks reuptake and causes euphoria. Your brain allows you to be alert, aware, think properly, and do things normally. Drugs alter that entirely. You will not be your usual self whenever you are on drugs/addicted to drugs.
