A scientist claims that 4% of viruses are airborne. If the scientist is accurate, what is the probability that the proportion of
oksano4ka [1.4K]

Answer:

The probability that the proportion of airborne viruses in a sample of 662 viruses would be greater than 6%=0.00427

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that

\mu_{\hat{p}}=p=4%=0.04

n=662

We have to find the probability that the proportion of airborne viruses in a sample of 662 viruses would be greater than 6%.

q=1-p=1-0.04=0.96

\sigma_{\hat{p}}=\sqrt{p(1-p)/n}

\sigma_{\hat{p}}=\sqrt{\frac{0.04(1-0.04)}{662}}

\sigma_{\hat{p}}=0.0076

Now,

P(\hat{p}>0.06)=1-P(\hat{p}

=1-P(\frac{\hat{p}-\mu_{\hat{p}}}{\sigma_{\hat{p}}}

=1-P(Z

=1-0.99573

P(\hat{p}>0.06)=0.00427

Hence, the probability that the proportion of airborne viruses in a sample of 662 viruses would be greater than 6%=0.00427

3. What is the converse of the following statement?If M is the midpoint of line segment PQ, then line segment PM is congruent to
Len [333]

Solution

Given the question in the image, the following are the solution steps to answer the question.

STEP 1: Define the converse of a statement

The converse of a statement is formed by switching the hypothesis and the conclusion.

STEP 2: break down the given statements

Hypothesis: If M is the midpoint of line segment PQ,

Conclusion: line segment PM is congruent to line segment QM

STEP 3: Switch the two statements

Hence, the answer is given as:

If line segment PM is congruent to line segment QM, then M is the midpoint of line segment PQ,

How do you prove this using a two-column proof format?
Law Incorporation [45]

I'm not sure if you need the answer or just the steps to start, so I will just give u the steps. First, just take a step back and take it one step at a time. Once you have an idea of how the two triangles are congruent, make 2 columns, one with statements and one with reasons. On the statements side, put given information and what you learn along the way, like if it is given x=y, and y=z, then what you can put down after that is x=z. On the reasons side, put the properties or formulas you used to reach your solution. For instance, if x=y and y=z, x=z by the Transitive property of equality. Proofs are time consuming, tedious and utterly frustrating. Just take it slowly and you will be fine.
