3x = 18-2y

x= 6 - 2/3y

then substitute in the second equation

Y= -2/3x + 12

y=-2/3(6-2/3y)+12

y= 72/5

then substitute y= 72/5 in the first equation x= 6 - 2/3y

then x = -18/5

Answer:

3x + 2y =18

Y= -2/3x + 12

3x + 2(-2/3x+12) = 18

3x + (-4/3x+24) = 18

3x + -1 1/3x +24 =18

1 2/3x +24 = 18

1 2/3x = -6

5/3x = -6

x = -3.75

An abstract sculpture in the form of a triangle has a base 21 meters and a height of 12 meters. Find the are of the triangle.
charle [14.2K]
The area of a triangle could be determined using the following formula
\boxed{a= \frac{1}{2} \times b \times h}

plug in the numbers
a =  \frac{1}{2} \times 21 \times 12
a =  \frac{1}{2} \times 252
a= \frac{252}{2}
a = 126

The area of the triangle is 126 square meters

WILL GIVE BRAINLIEST
Papessa [141]
<span>the particle's initial position is at t=0, x = 0 - 0 + 4 = 4m

velocity is rate of change of displacement = dx/dt = d(t^3 - 9t^2 +4)/dt
= 3t^2 - 18t

acceleration is rate of change of velocity = d(3t^2 -18t)/dt
= 6t - 18

</span><span>the particle is stationary when velocity = 0, so 3t^2 - 18t =0
</span>3t*(t - 6) = 0
t = 0 or t = 6s

acceleration = 6t - 18 = 0
t = 3s
at t = 3s, velocity = 3(3^2) -18*3 = -27m/s
displacement = 3^3 - 9*3^2 +4 = -50m

For the function f(x)=ax^3+bx^2-5x+9, determine the values of a and b so that f(-1)=12 and f'(-1)=3
Alecsey [184]

If

<em>f(x)</em> = <em>ax</em> ³ + <em>bx</em> ² - 5<em>x</em> + 9

then

<em>f '(x)</em> = 3<em>ax </em>² + 2<em>bx</em> - 5

Given that <em>f</em> (-1) = 12 and <em>f</em> '(-1) = 3, we get the system of equations

-<em>a</em> + <em>b</em> + 5 + 9 = 12

3<em>a</em> - 2<em>b</em> - 5 = 3

or

-<em>a</em> + <em>b</em> = -2

3<em>a</em> - 2<em>b</em> = 8

Multiply through the first equation by 2 and add it to the second one to eliminate <em>b</em> and solve for <em>a</em> :

2(-<em>a</em> + <em>b</em>) + (3<em>a</em> - 2<em>b</em>) = 2(-2) + 8

-2<em>a</em> + 2<em>b</em> + 3<em>a</em> - 2<em>b</em> = -4 + 8

<em>a</em> = 4

Substitute this into the first equation above to solve for <em>b</em> :

-4 + <em>b</em> = -2

<em>b</em> = 2

How do i measure the diameter of a circle?
gayaneshka [121]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

If you know the radius of the circle, double it to get the diameter. The radius is the distance from the center of the circle to its edge. If the radius of the circle is 4 cm, then the diameter of the circle is 4 cm x 2, or 8 cm. If you know the circumference of the circle, divide it by π to get the diameter

How do I solve one step equations
frozen [14]

Step-by-step explanation:

To solve one step equations you have to do the opposite of whatever operation is being performed on the variable so you have to get the variable by itself

The most important thing to remember is that whatever you do to one side of the equation, you have to do the same thing to the other side.
