It’s day 57 . I took the west trail yesterday. It was very hot and sticky , I’m headed to the mountains to see my family. The villagers sent me north because that’s the direction the mountains are in. I’ve made a new friend on my way, his name is Doug, he’s a Siberian husky, we’ve been through a lot , anyways I would say my overall experience is a 2/10. Next time I should take a horse

Complete the paragraph about the populist Party's position regarding railroads during the Gilded Age.
MAXImum [283]

The Populist party wanted the government to take over the railroads.

The Populist party mostly made up of farmers who had several grievances such as:

  • railroads overcharging them to transport their goods
  • the use of gold instead of silver to back the U.S. dollar
  • high charges on telegraph

In order to address these, they formed the Populist party where they called on the U.S. government to take over the railroads and telegraph wires so that the government would give them better rates.

In conclusion, the Populist party wanted more government interference so that they would be able to access the railroad and telegraph at cheaper rates.

How did bonaza farms make it difficult for small farmers to compete in the l ate 19th century?
vichka [17]
Bonanza farms were huge farms that were owned by companies. This ownership allowed the farms to have more access to funds. Land could be cheaply purchased at the time which led to them gaining more and more acreage. Often, these companies would buy land that was close to railways. This would make the shipping of goods more accessible and contributed to their great profits.
