Triangles QVS and RTS are similar. Find side VS.
tekilochka [14]

In order to solve the equation, set up a proportion. Use the similar sides together!

1. 16/8 = x/20.... Similar sides are in one ratio and they equal another ratio...."x" represents the side of VS

2.Solve for "x" by cross multiplying: 8x = 320

3. Divide by 8 to find "x": x = 40

Side VS equals 40. Hope this helped :)

Factor-3/4 out of 3/2x-9/4y
S_A_V [24]

For this case we must factor - \frac {3} {4}of the following expression:

\frac {3} {2} x- \frac {9} {4}y

By law of signs of multiplication it is fulfilled that:

- * - = +\\- * + = -

So we have to:

- \frac {3} {4} * (- 2) = + \frac {6} {4} = + \frac {3} {2}\\- \frac {3} {4} * 3 = - \frac {9} {4}

Thus, by factoring we have:

- \frac {3} {4} (- 2x + 3y)

Answer:

- \frac {3} {4} (- 2x + 3y)

Pythagorean Theorem with Known Legs
IgorC [24]

Answer:

\sqrt{170} = c

Step-by-step explanation:

We are trying to find the hypotenuse of a right triangle

We will use the Pythagorean theorem

a^2 + b^2 = c^2  where a and b are the legs and  c is the hypotenuse

11^2 + 7^2 = c^2

121 + 49 = c^2

170 = c^2

Taking the square root of each side

\sqrt{170} = c
