The high road. People today are much more sensitive than in the previous years and are likely to take every little thing personally, resulting in arguments, loss of quality relationships and very hurt feelings. No one knows how to take criticism anymore.

podryga [215]

Sinclair's purpose in writing the piece was to show the reader the awful working conditions of the immigrants.

What is Narration?

This is known to be the use of spoken words to convey a story.

Hence we can see that Sinclair tries to awaken the reader to the terrible living conditions of immigrants moving in. Although this was Sinclair's intent, the book actually ended up bringing awareness to the ways the food was being produced.

Langston Hughes’s poem “Dreams” praises dreams, while “Dawn in New York” praises
stich3 [128]
"Dawn in New York" praises the solitude of a morning routine.

While this morning routine does take place on urban transportation systems, the poem is praising the fact that these transportations systems are nearly empty at dawn. There are "no pushing crowd, no tramping, tramping feet" getting in the speaker's way as he makes his way to work.

The beauty of New York at dawn is the fact that the speaker can enjoy its beauty alone.
