How did the Jesuits help fight against the Protestant Reformation? Select all that apply.
taurus [48]

4 .Disguised Jesuits secretly traveled to Protestant lands to support Catholics.

5. Jesuits advised Catholic rulers about how they could prevent or fight heresy.

The Society of Jesus (known as the Jesuits for short) was a religious order that aimed to build allegiance to Rome and the papacy, as well as to educate people in Catholic teaching.  The order was founded by Ignatius of Loyola in 1534, along with Francis Xavier and several others. They engaged in helping Catholic leaders (and opposing Protestant ones), as well as in mission efforts to far parts of the world. They played an especially strong role in educational institutions. One historian has said of the role played by the Jesuit order: "The vigorous and aggressive Catholic Church which developed during the sixteenth century was largely the product of the Jesuits.”
